The long and winding road ...
Well since Huw and Mary got married (in 1984) they have lived in 12 other places before they found Gorge View. To be fair many of those places were rented - whilst living in the Netherlands, relocating or treading water between house selling and house buying. In 1994 Huw got a job with Hewlett Packard in North Bristol and as the young family relocated down to the Bristol area Mary hunted down around the Mendips and discovered the lovely Cheddar valley, with its great schools. After a few temporary places we settled at Ivy House in Stone Allerton at first and later were part of a group of people who looked to buy a property to share as a community. Somehow as the search continued and people dropped out we ended up with just two families living together as a completely integrated household (something not originally planned). It quickly proved a mistake. But the Gods then smiled on us and we managed to sell up again within one year to an enthusiastic buyer.
Finding a next house in a hurry was not so easy. We stumbled upon Gorge View and loved it. It was far above our budget, but we loved it so much we put in a silly low offer - just in case. Well the owners didn't even respond. We guessed it was not to be, moved in to (yet another) rented house. And then, four or so months on as we continued to hunt, we saw Gorge View was still on the market and made it clear our offer still stood. And this time it all worked. And in we came.
