History
As far as we know the main house was well established in the late Victorian era (mid-1800's). In around 1925 it was largely rebuilt in its present form. Birch Hill, which on older maps is down as Burge Hill or Burch Hill, was one of the older and original lanes in Cheddar. More intriguingly we have found old photographs from Edwardian times showing that original thatched and whitewashed house. And one of the photographs shows that the garden was then a strawberry field, with the pickers all posing in their "Sunday Best".
